"Holy fuck," I muttered to myself as I entered the Cat's Cradle to the sound of a bunch of dudes wigging out on toy instruments and digital paraphernalia, only later kicking myself for the inadvertent obvious pun. It was too crowded for dancing-- Wolf Parade has found a fertile demographic with the high school set, who are still excited enough about shows to arrive early and stay late-- but I was reminded of an even goofier and more garishly colorful Out Hud as Holy Fuck blasted out opulent streams of saturated melody, clouds of glitter and confetti, nitrous-boosted dance dynamics. The live success of Wolf Parade's spiky indie rock would hinge upon their level of exuberance, and Holy Fuck set the bar awfully high.
